| It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Uniquely Singapore, a dynamic and exciting host for the 3rd International PACS and Teleradiology Symposium (IPTS).
This year, IPTS is brought to you by National Healthcare Group Diagnostics Singapore (NHGD),
Teleradiology Solutions (TS) and OTech Healthcare Solutions. IPTS was conceived in 2006 primarily with pedagogic aim in mind.
The inaugural International PACS Teleradiology Symposium, held in Bangalore, India, in April 2007, was a great success.
It then prompted the second meeting in 2008 with growing interests from radiology and IT professionals around Asia.
This year's IPTS features a strong technical programme on PACS and Teleradiology presented by experts in the field.
It includes a pre-symposium DICOM and HL7 workshop to be led by Mr Herman Oosterwijk, President of OTech Healthcare Solutions.
Mr Oosterwijk has been successfully involved with PACS as a teacher, consultant, and engineering and business manager for over 20 years.
He has chaired the Technical and Regulatory Committee of the MEDPACS section of the National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA) and participated in the DICOM
standardization effort as part of the working group VI, HL7 standard participating in the Imaging and Integration Special Interest Group and IHE for ophthalmology.
In addition, we are fortunate to have what is certain to be an excellent Keynote Address by Professor Lenny Tan, Professor of Diagnostic Radiology,
University of Singapore and Emeritus Consultant of Diagnostic Imaging, National University Hospital (NUH).
Professor Tan is an internationally acclaimed clinician in his field and has extensive established networks in the international medical community.
He is also the past President of the International Society of Radiology.
The conference will also feature a lively, informative and controversial panel discussion on the topic “The Digital Enterprise: Today and Future”.
Finally, I would like to thank the following leading edge companies, whose generous support have made it possible for IPTS Singapore 2009: Fujifilm, Carestream Health Singapore Pte Ltd, Barco Medical and GE Healthcare.
In these tight economic times, their involvement in IPTS and support for the symposium is greatly appreciated and it demonstrates their commitment to the future of Digital Technology, PACS and Teleradiology.
I hope you will find the symposium informative and enjoyable, and you will take the opportunity to meet new and old friends.
To our overseas delegates, I look forward to welcome you to Singapore.
